After R.ad, a compilation of several lo-fi dark demos recorded in studio and released in 2018, YGGL goes further within his introspection as a one man band. In this album, Yrwan Garcia Leal explores in-dept the sound of the 80's and mixes it with his memories of 90's music to bring a more contemporary touch. Recorded in studio with Bertrand aka « Mako » Blais (Etienne Daho's guitarist), Hazy sounds inspired by mythical drum machines (TR 808, Linn LM 1 or other Oberhiem DMX). The bass lines become deeper and heady melodies remind us simplified riffs of Smashing Pumpkins surrounded by a beat of Madonna's 80’s songs. More confident, his voice delivers the paradox between the nostalgia of a happy childhood distorted by our contemporary society on the verge of explosion, valued by professional achievement in favor of free time. A resolutely forward-looking album, as dark as it is.
